Department of Geography - University of Colombo |
| This department was shifted to University of Peradeniya in 1952 when the faculty of Arts moved there. Subsequently when a second faculty of Arts was begun in 1963 in Colombo, affiliated to the University of Ceylon in Peradeniya, several sub-departments were established and the sub-department of Geography was one, which became a fully-fledged Department in 1967. Initially only undergraduate programs were conducted in this Department. |

| She was born in Jaffna peninsula in Sri Lanka and completed her junior education at the Asias first girls boarding school (American Missionary Seminary) called Uduvil Girls College at Jaffna in the island. After completing Grade Ten, she moved to Jaffna Hindu Ladies College and continued Biology stream in her Advanced Level. In 1995, she was displaced from Jaffna and joined at Puthukkudiyiruppu Central College in Mullaithivu district for her Advanced Level education in Arts stream in 1996 and sat for the examinations in 1997. |
